Why Online Tree Care
A traditional on-site arborist survey can cost £150–£300 just for the visit. Many tree questions — disease identification, safety checks, planning permission queries — can be answered confidently from a good photograph by a qualified expert. We give you that expertise at a fraction of the cost.

What We Assess
From everyday safety concerns to complex disease identification — our arborists cover the full range of tree health issues UK homeowners and businesses face.
Is your tree structurally sound? We assess lean, deadwood, crown condition, root zone, and structural defects to determine if a tree poses a risk to people or property.
Ash dieback, Phytophthora, honey fungus, bacterial canker, Massaria disease — expert identification of fungal, bacterial and viral conditions affecting UK trees.
Unsure if your tree is protected? We advise on Tree Preservation Orders, Conservation Area regulations, and what permissions you need before undertaking any tree work.
Not sure what species of tree you have? Accurate identification matters for disease susceptibility, legal protection status, and appropriate management decisions.
Trees overhanging property boundaries, roots causing damage, or disputes with neighbours — we provide impartial expert opinions to support your case.
Managing multiple trees across a property, school, housing association or estate? Our business plan covers multi-tree assessments with priority response and direct consultation.
The Process
Professional tree advice in four simple steps — no site visit required.
Take a clear photo of your tree — ideally showing the full trunk, any concerning areas, and the surrounding ground. Video is also accepted.
Tell us what's worrying you — a lean, dead branches, fungal growth, a planning query, or anything else. The more detail, the better our assessment.
A qualified arborist reviews your submission and prepares a detailed written assessment covering species, condition, risk level, and recommended actions.
Your assessment is emailed within 24 hours (12 hours for Standard and above). Pro and Business clients receive cost estimates and local arborist referrals.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know about our online tree assessment service. If you don't find your answer here, use our free submission form to ask directly.
Ask an Arborist →Key warning signs include significant quantities of dead branches (deadwood) in the crown, a lean that appears to have developed recently, cracks or splits in the main trunk, fungal brackets or mushrooms at the base, hollow sections, or roots that appear damaged or raised. If you notice any of these, a professional assessment is strongly recommended. Upload a photo and we'll give you a clear answer.
You may need permission if your tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or if it sits within a Conservation Area. In both cases you must notify or apply to your local council before any works are carried out. Carrying out work without consent can result in an unlimited fine. Our arborists can advise on whether your tree is likely to be protected and guide you through the correct process.
Ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) is a fungal disease causing progressive crown die-back in ash trees. Symptoms include wilting, blackened leaves in summer, diamond-shaped lesions on stems, and dead branches throughout the crown. There is currently no cure. If your ash tree shows these signs, the key question is how much of the crown remains alive and whether the tree is safe. Upload a photo and we can assess the situation.
For many common queries — disease identification, general health advice, species confirmation, TPO questions, and many safety concerns — a photo-based assessment by a qualified arborist is highly effective and far more affordable than a site visit. For situations requiring a formal BS5837 report (typically for planning applications) or insurance claims, physical inspection may be necessary. We'll tell you honestly if your situation requires an on-site survey, and can refer you to a local qualified arborist.
You have the legal right to cut back branches or roots that cross your property boundary, up to the boundary line — but you must return the cuttings to your neighbour. However, if the tree is covered by a TPO or in a Conservation Area, this right may be restricted. We can advise on what you can and can't do, and provide an impartial written expert opinion if the situation involves a dispute.
Free assessments are returned within 24 hours. Standard plan assessments within 12 hours. Pro and Business clients receive priority responses typically within 4–6 hours during working hours. All assessments are delivered by email to the address you provide at submission.
